We are the screen print professionals. Screen printing is a great and long lasting option for T-shirt prints. Whether you want to prints T-shirts for businesses, schools, restaurants, special events and sports teams this printing method will ensures a soft feeling print. We heat seal our screen prints on our shirts to smooth out the inks - and fuse them together. By doing this it helps colors stay brighter and improves the overall life of the prints.
At Crazy Prints we use a manual flatbed screen printing machine capable of producing thousands of garments a week.
Types of inks that we use
1. Plastisol Inks
Is the process of suspension of PVC particles in a plasticizer (a chemical that increases flexibility). This is a cost effective and durable process that produces brisk results. The ink sits on top of the fabric producing prints colors that are vibrant and bright.
The inks can be easily matched to any Pantone PMS colors.
2. Waterbased Inks
This type of print produces a result that is more soft and breathable compared to Plastisol inks. Because this is a waterbased ink, it can better penetrate the fabric, but can only be used on white or light colored garments.
3. Discharge Inks
This is essentially a process that affects the dyes that already exist in the garment by bleaching them out and replacing it with your chosen colors. This ink produces a crisp result that is much softer that plastisol inks. The only downside to this is that it’s much harder to match Pantone PMS colours.
How to design for screen printing
This handy guide will show you the best design decisions whilst saving you time and money!
Stick to spot colors rather than gradient colors. Spot colors save money as few screens will be required and the cost the print will be much less.
What costs to consider
Separate screens for each color costs more, therefore the more colors in your design the more the set up and ink costs be. Also the more positions you have in your design the higher the cost e.g. it is cheaper to print only the front then the back and the front. Use the same consistent color shade in your file to save extra set up and ink cost e.g. use the same shade of green for all green areas.
Convert all strokes to paths or outline any strokes before submitting your work. Convert all your texts to outlines incase we don’t have the font that you used in your file. Gradients will be printed as halftones. We can print 5mm from the seams and no higher than the bottom of the collar. We are unable to print wrap around designs that go over the side seams. However some styles of t-shirts do not have side seams and therefore can be print wrapped for.
